Hiiii! I just wanted to share about how much of a blessing it is to be able to experience more South African culture. Last Sunday we attended a church service in one of the poorer communities. It was held in a school room, and there were maybe two dozen people there. Despite having no band, lights, stage, or sound system, it was one of the most beautiful church services I have ever experienced. People were dancing and shouting with joy, and it was so beautiful to see such a tight knit, united community. The sermon was based on the hope the Lord brings, and while it may not have been the most eye opening and intellectual message I have heard, it was so powerful because it was from such an authentic, genuine place. I can see the Holy Spirit in these people, and their love for God is so moving. I think the idea of church can be overlooked at times because it is so normal in our culture. This experience has reminded me of the incredible opportunity church gives us. Having a group together in one place, sharing a heart for the Lord and praising Him through song is so powerful. Having a community where people love and rely on one another without judgement or prejudice is truly incredible, and I pray that this can be experienced by all believers in their churches. LOVE YOU GUYS!
